As a Roadway Project Engineer, you are responsible for the preparation of detailed design drawings and contract documents for urban highways, rural roadways, and city streets under the direction of the Transportation Practice Leader. With careful attention, you independently design detailed roadway and roadway drainage systems. Additionally, you develop concepts for preliminary engineering and final designs for projects like geometrics, profile design, modeling, grading design, superelevation, traffic control, signing, and marking.

You rise to the challenge of developing creative solutions for specific project challenges. You also prepare construction plans, technical specifications, technical studies, and reports as well as quantity take-offs and/or calculations. Additionally, you get to assist in developing marketing proposals and the administration of projects, including reviewing and responding to contractor material submittals, RFI's, and change order requests. You pride yourself in keeping track of multiple projects at a time and delivering documents in a timely manner.

Though you spend a lot of time working independently, you do get to collaborate regularly with others involved in aspects of roadway projects, including surveying, drainage, utilities, and traffic. You also direct CAD designers and less experienced staff in the preparation and production of construction plans. Your determination to meet the specifications of our clients and our company standards shows in your work. Regularly, you review your own work and the work of designers for quality. You find your job fascinating and enjoy seeing projects take shape!
